Bodo Korsig, from Trier, Germany, will show his large scale cast
aluminum work, Metamorphoses. This work is rich in meaning, yet
remains totally abstract. It begs several questions, who or what, is
being morphed and why? Is that better or maybe worse? It’s organic
form and subtle coloration do not lend answers but rather increase
the mystery behind the work. Korsig has long been concerned with
the brain and it’s chemical components, as with his earlier work
about memory in which he examined how we make emotional
associations through the minutia of our life experiences, but his use of
this kind of research is arresting, not academic. Visually quite simple
and yet powerfully emblematic, his works gather meaning through
interaction with viewers. Questions are raised, not answered here.
